Some Things Never Change (But Most Things Do): The Enduring Magic of Margaritaville with Ryan White
Tropic Cinema
$15
2 PM
Billboardโs 14th biggest hit of 1977 was a happy-sounding sad song that arrived from a specific time in an extremely specific space. Five decades later, โMargaritavilleโ is included in the National Recording Registry at the Library of Congress and Jimmy Buffett is being inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame.
But Buffett wasnโt always the pied piper of beaches, bars, and laid-back living. Born on the Gulf Coast, the son of a son of a sailing ship captain, Buffett scuffed around New Orleans in the late sixties, flunked out of Nashville (and a marriage) in 1971, and found refuge among the artists, dopers, shrimpers, and genuine characters whoโd collected at the end of the road in Key West. And it was there, in those waning outlaw days at the last American exit, where Buffett found his voice and eventually brought to life the song that would launch a lifestyle.
Today, Margaritaville is a mall and Key West is packed. Can you see what was from what it all became? Sure you can.

The author of Jimmy Buffett: A Good Life All the Way and Springsteen: Album by Album, he lives in Ann Arbor, Michigan and currently spends his days at the same Detroit ad agency that once employed Elmore Leonard. Outdoor Movie: Tales From Margaritavision
Southernmost Pint Brew Pub
Free
8 PM
Join our hosts at the Pint for a great evening of outdoor entertainment, great food and the best brews in town as we watch Tales From Margaritavision. Singer-songwriter Jimmy Buffett and producers Mike Ramos and Stan Kellam have collected rare Buffett music videos and live footage from his concert appearance to create this compilation, augmented with documentary footage.
Our hosts at the Pint are a very small and family owned cozy brewpub & restaurant, where they make Blast Beer craft beers in house along with an ever changing menu of delicious gluten free dishes. Blast Beer Company started in 1990 as the brainchild of beer-loving Purdue University student Tadd Maudlin. With the craft brew movement just kicking off, Tadd drove hundreds of miles to find ingredients and bought books to learn all about how great beers are made. After educating himself with a little-known brewing process that breaks down gluten in beer he's brewed in Mexico, traveled the Caribbean extensively with his wife Lindsay, sailed their catamaran across the Atlantic Ocean to the UK, over to Europe, down to Africa and back again. Since then, he has enjoyed brewing beer and sharing the process with friends and family. We look forward to serving you, as well!
